Day tour to Agra from Delhi
Regions : North India
Destinations Covered :Agra – Delhi
Duration :
When you are short of time while in India, a visit to this cultural hub won’t be complete without a tour to one of the most visited and wish-listed sights of the world – the Taj Mahal in Agra. On this one day trip you travel by private car between Delhi and Agra early morning. While taking in the diverse agricultural landscapes that stretch along this 135 miles (220 kilometres) freeway, your excitement is fuelled by road signs indicating your arrival to the sublime Taj Mahal, built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the 16th century. This midday visit allows you to view the marbled spectacle in all its grandeur while the natural scenery of birds and trees blend in with its brilliant tales of love, loss and heritage.
After a refreshing stop you cross the Yamuna river to approach the Agra Fort. Its immense red stone structures are quite the contrast to its surroundings of everyday life and work for the local Indian population. Again, built in the 16th century by Emperor Akbar, you will be astounded at its colossal walls, arches and finally, the splendid beauties of the harem and private terraces of the emperors back in the day. It is here where you catch a final glimpse of the Taj Mahal before you head back to Delhi late afternoon.
Consider that the length of the trip may be influenced by unpredictable traffic. An estimated four to five hours drive per way should be taken into account.
